World Lupus Day & Avoid Stress

World Lupus DayYou guess it. It’s another world health awareness day. Today is the World Lupus Day! We have had World Health Day last month with focus on diabetes. With all the technological advancement we have today, there is still no cure for lupus! However, the disease may be controlled with early diagnosis and proper medical treatment! Individualised treatment options are important to ensure the best outcome as everyone is different. Simple lifestyle modification can also help to make life easier. It would help if patients can get plenty of rest, have a healthy diet, avoid exposure to the sun and artificial ultraviolet light, quit smoking, minimise alcohol intake and avoid stress.

Avoid stress? ” You got to be joking me!” “Who is without stress? ” were the typical responses from patients. It’s easy to say and hard to do as I’ve been told by many patients.  The aim is to reduce the level and impact of stress as much as possible so the body has a chance to recover. Living with any kind of chronic disease is not an easy task. People who have lived successfully with any chronic disease have learnt to balance different aspects of their lives. Attending educational health events is a great way to learn tips to balance your life and maintain your health. Only one week away to the Living Well with Diabetes community health event on Gold Coast.
