Commonwealth Game: A time to start being physically active

The Commonwealth Game XXI is finally here in Gold Coast! The excitement is in the air! It’s the perfect time for all of us to start being physically active! All the patients who have started doing regular physical activities, such as walking or gardening, will tell you that they wish they have started earlier!

There are many health benefits when you do regular physical activities! It does more than weight management. For starters, you will feel great that you’ve kept the promise to yourself by doing the physical activities regularly. All the patients have come back refreshed and energized after they have started doing some form of physical activities of their choice!

Many patients have told me that they can manage their stress and diabetes better! Some even reported less depression and anxiety! Their confidence have increased and their quality of life certainly has improved dramatically. I have received many thank-you notes from family members who are so delighted to see the changes in their loved ones. Some even come to the following diabetes consultations to thank me in person! That is the most rewarding part of being a health professional in my life!

The good news is that regular physical activities can help to reduce risks of heart disease, stroke, lower body fat and high blood pressure, prevent obesity and back pain. So why not give yourself the gift of life by starting to pick a physical activity you love to do? You are invited to come joining us in Surfers Paradise on Wednesday mornings from 6:15am for a beautiful morning walk along the famous Surfers Paradise beach!
